Took my parents to the California State Fair today, where I learned that lactating cows drink between 30-50 gallons of water per day -- enough to fill a bath tub.

Summertime fairs really expose you to new things, don't they? At the San Diego County Fair this year, Bryan and I watched a cow give birth. One word: messy. Three more words: but also fascinating.
Yes, Michelle -- we learn something new every year. The State Fair does a great job of exposing visitors to the life of agriculture -- plants, animals, and even machinery. And there's an animal nursery, with dozens of piglets and a handful of lambs. The goats are so affectionate; they really melt my heart.
