Dusty is a four-year-old Morgan gelding owned by Toni Deery. I met with Toni on Saturday to get a better understanding of horses and their habits, hoping to incorporate this knowledge into my new novel. Dusty was a kick, no pun intended. Steve took the photo.

Did you bring carrots? Whenever possible, I try to make nice with people and animals through food.
I didn't bring carrots, because Toni had an entire basket of green apples. Val, her older gelding, was a bit of a hog in this regard, and not eager to share with Dusty.
If I were a horse, I'd hope someone would bring me cupcakes.
